I have just finished a tutorial on regedit and noticed I have an entry in HKEY_LOCAL MACINE_SOFTWARE for SCHLUMBERGER this entry refers smart cards. I have not installed this software so I suppose it must have been installed with Windows XP?
What is the program for and can I delete it, I cannot find it in add or remove prorgams?

This is the company that will be producing the UK identity cards;-))). they are also wealthier than Croesus and are heavily into all things oil. They also produce smart card readers for securing desktops or unlocking the same. It will be in the registry in case you need to install a smart card and will do no harm.

Cheers Gandalf, seems as though it is best to leave it installed. When I checked my laptop that also runs XP there is no such entry so the alarm bells range.

They seem to have fingers in many pies, they do a range of pc support services, entry card and used to (possibly still do the Seeboard meter cards)

I would think if it there, its there for a reason.
