Scanrom TSR again

Reg Crawler has not solved this problem.

An unknown program has recently started running in the background on my computer. I’m running XP Home edition and use AOL as my ISP. Whenever I shut down I receive the message

‘Scanrom TSR will not close and does not respond’ I then click a manual ‘close’ button and a new message appears. ‘The request to end the 16Bit task has timed out. The WIN 16 subsystem may be unstable – press OK to terminate WIN 16 subsystem or Cancel to leave running’

Using Reg Crawler unearthed 7 old registry files from a program for a small photo scanner called an Artec Scanrom 4E; these have been removed.
The ‘Scanrom TSR’ still appears to be running; any ideas?

Have you looked in msconfig to see if there is a reference to it running.

Thanks Old Shep, that finally got the bug out of my shut down routine. Any ideas why reg crawler didn't find the HKCU reference I found in msconfig? Or am I showing my ignorance of system protocol?
