Scanning slides

I have a large slide collection that I want to put on disc. The transparency adapter on my HP scanner (HP 5370) produces fairly poor results. Would I get any better results with something like the Epson 2420, or do I need to shell out on a specialist slide scanner. Does anybody have any experience with scanning large no's of slides?

You are far better with a dedicated film scanner such as click here&

I have borrowed this model from a friend and find it infinitely better than anything produced from a flatbed scanner such as you are currently using.

Well worht the £130 if you have enough slides to justify it.
