Scanner suddenly slowed down

  TATHS 12:44 14 Jan 06

I routinely scan pages of magazines etc instead of cutting them out. Suddenly my scammer is taking well over 5 minutes to scan an A4 page at 400dpi in colour instead of about 30 seconds. Can anyone suggest any reason for this sudden slow down? The scanner is a Canonn6700 and usually runs reasonably fast. I am using PhotoImpact 6 since all I ever work with is scanned material (and don't even own a camera) so no need of fancy editing gear. The Computer is a 2.1Ghz Pentioum 4 and has 2GB of memory. The effect is that it is scanning in treacle

Don't think it can be this - I am just scanning to memory. When I save the image it does so at the usual rate
