Scanner novice - Help please

I've been given a "working" Plustek Optic Pro 4831p. I've no experience of Scanners.

I've downloaded the driver from Plustek's site and installed it from the setup file.

The scanner doesn't appear anywhere in the Device Manager or Control Panel.

It does light up, and the Scanner Utility does "see" the Scanner.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what I need to install next to make the Scanner work.

OS is Windows 98SE

There should be an entry in the PROGRAMS file, scanners if showing appear under scanners and cameras in device manager and control panel.

When i had a scanner in 98, it had to be switched on before the PC, otherwise sometimes it could not be found by the software.
