A friend wants to use a scanner on his home network (2 pc's both XP) he has tried the share equipment route and cannot get the scanner to share. Any ideas please.

I don't believe there's a way around this; I think the scanner drivers are too low-level/don't work over network connections.

most basic scanners casnnot be shared across a network.

At £250 + there are several that can.

Ironically, I have what is now a fairly old USB scanner, HP ScanJet 6200C and that has a separate software installation that enabls all network users to share it. Works a treat so long as the "host" pc is switched on.
