Scanner mains adaptor dead!

  wotbus@ 21:41 04 Oct 06

The mains adaptor on my hp4470c has just died. I have searched the web for over an hour but no luck. There are several 12v 1250mA adaptors available but they are universal type and without the filter [surge filter?].
HP say it's a disconinued item. Would anyone know a source - part no is C9870-84200.
Thanks in advance.

will work OK without surge filter.

My 5300 scanjet does.

I had a look and could find them but only in the US and that would probably be so pricey you'd be better off buying a new one. Rather poor that they cannot supply a replacement though.

Cheers Fruit Bat /\0/\, that's narrowed it all down a tad. I reckon I could bodge the bit of lead with the filter on, onto one of these universal thingies anyway. Only just thought of that duhhhhh. Thanks again.

Hi Totally. Yup, I found loads in the states too but I reckon I can sort it now.

I don't seem to be able to find an adaptor rated at 1250mA here in France. Best so far is 800mA and 1000mA. Question to a person who knows: Is it absolutely essential to rate the new adaptor at 1250mA and/or will something "fry" if I don't? ;-)
I can find one in UK but that means another "adaptor" [uk 3pin to conti 2pin] and I want to avoid that if possible.

No its not a matter of fry the thing with less milli Amps there will not be enough current to run the motor to pass the scanning lamp across the item to be scanned.

You definitely need the 1250mA
