Scanner identity

Having upgraded my operating system to WIN XP I have been unable to load the software for my printer or scanner, however following advice from the helproom I was able to download an update for my Epson printer and that is now working fine. The scanner is another matter though, as I cannot identify the make, the name on the case is 'TINY' but obviously they are only the suppliers and the only identification marks on the case apart from this is a series of codes on the base, reading G.S.
FU 318D

S/No.928A 0 0 0 639D1
Has anyone any idea as to who made these machines, or how I can identify the maker from these codes. Failing that is it possible to obtain a program with a Twain driver for any make of scanner without having to identify the make
