Scanner driver problem with Vista SP1

  montydog 16:34 19 May 08

I've just loaded Vista SP1 on my machine, without any apparent problems, until I came to use my scanner. It wouldn't work, so, assuming it may be SP1, I got the latest drivers from HP (it's a Scanjet 3800)anduninstalled it and re-installed using new drivers, with no luck.
Any suggestions as to next steps would be gratefully received.

Does Windows recognise that the scanner is present? If not try unplugging the power to it and then plugging it in again to see if Windows recognises the new hardware. It worked for me with my Canon scanner.

Hi Chub-tor

Just unplugged it and re-connected. It works. I just didn't think of that. You are a genius.
Thank you so much!
