Scanner compatibility with XP

I couldn't get my Epson Perfection 1250 to work with XP (Home), even with 'Compatibility Mode' or Driver Disc from Epson. Getting a new scanner, would be grateful for certain info that it will be compatible. (Interesting that Canoscan 1250 - which I am interested in - got good review in PC Advisor, but it says the driver wasn't 'certified for XP', though it worked!) Can any readers advise? Thanks.

If you do decide on a Canon scanner, then I highly recommend the Lide50, I have this scanner and it works perfectly with XP.

Beside the fact of excellent quality scans, it is fast, quiet, takes up very Little room on the desktop, and as a bonus, it is very attractive to look at.
