scan zipped files?

using xp home, friend in usa has sent me a home movie in zipped format, I always scan email attachments with AVG even though I know where they have come from, with this zipped file can I still scan with AVG while it is still zipped?
all advice gratefully accepted

If you use Quick View Plus you can see what's in it without unzipping it

Yes, just right click the file then click on scan with avg.

That would still run the file & launch any nasties.

AVG will scan the zip file.

On a side point, if you need to email an exe file for any reason most email programs and servers will spot the exe file even if you zip it.
The way to get round this is to zip it twice, the mail scanner will spot the zip file, look in it and spot another zip file, it will go no further.

Another way is to password protect the zip file, most servers will not be able to open the zip file.
