scan disk -safe mode -restart

hi, i can not defrag my drive because it tells me it has errors, it wont scan the disk because it keeps restarting, so i thought i would do it in safe -mode, and it still will not do it, owing to it keeping restarting, it said programmes are running..could someone PLEASE advise, it is doing me in....thanks

Had this happen a few times too. Check out this microsoft support page: click here;en-us;Q222469

Remember to turn off any screen savers too. They are the most common interference with scandisk I can think of.

Boot your computer into DOS, and from there you can run Defrag.exe ,dont know if you tried that yet, while your there try Chkdisk.exe.
