saving powerpoint handouts as word doc

Is it possible to save the "handout(6 slides per page)" version of a presentation easily as a word document? I know you can print it out from the print menu but I would like to save it as a word file or some other document format.

Office XP has from the File Menu the option to Send To Word but that only does 3 slides to a page with lines next to them. Other than that can't see a way of doing it.

If you have Adobe Acrobat (not just the free reader) you can "print" the handout sheet using PDFwriter and this will create a pdf file of the handout sheet.

I cannot see any other method as the handout is only available under the print menu.
