saving documents

hi everyone can some one tell me why and how to fix a small problem when ever i save a word document in word pad or office with xp it always puts it in the start menu instead of the drive i tell it to go to have a system with 3 patitions c: d: e: try to save in d@ but goes to start menu instead any ideas as to why saves ok in c: e: thanks andy

it could be a fault in - search for it and rename it normal.old or something while word is not running. Then start word and it will make a new You will then have the standard one and will loose any special things you have set up. If this cures the problem you will have to set it up again for your special bits. If it does not work delete the new one and rename old to dot.
