saving animated gif's windows ME

This thing is too clever for me!
HP pavilion running Windows ME. When I try to put a animated gif into 'my pictures' it only gives me the choice of storing a bit-map file.. I can view it as animated from a website but cannot 'save as' a gif file. If I bring one in on disc from another computer I can then save it and it will save the animated picture.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > General tab and click the "Delete Files" in the Temporary Internet Files section, wiz-king, that should cure it for you.
