What file, what type ie .last three letters?
what program did you use to save it?

Thank you for your response.

I was using notepad. When I went to the file to add more text, it opens as a dos file, eg a black screen opens. I should\thought saved as a .txt file but looks like saved as something else?

Can you right click the file, then properties and tell us what type of file it is saved as?

Its trying to run it as a command file

Right click the file and change last three letters to .txt

Tried that... when I right click it just gives the filename, not the extension?

Go to Control Panel - find Folder Options and then View tab. Look down the list to Hide Extensions for Known File Types - remove the tick from the box and click Apply - OK. Now when you right click you should see the .ext

Brilliant. Sorted and can now view my file in notepad.

Question: How did I do it in the first place? lol
