I have just purchased two Maxtor HDDs
250gig 6V250F0 and 400gig 6H400F0.
The maxtor site says there are no jumper settings to other about ... but both drives have a jumper entitled SATA 1.50b/s MODE SETTING and (J4 PARTIAL).

They are both set to PARTIAL .... what is this all about please?

Are the drives sata 2, if so the jumper is to make the drives backwards compatable for sata 1.

Hi ...
The lablels on the drives say SATA. As they don't specifically say they are SATA 2, I assume that they are not.
They are brand new devices though.
Sorry can't be more specific.

Both hard drives are SATA11, 3.0Gb

If your motherboard supports SATA11 leave the jumpers as they are. If it just supports SATA1 then move the jumpers to 1.5GB.

Excellent .... thank you very much.
I wonder why Maxtor do say as such on their web-site.
