SATA hdd addition problems

  rupie 17:27 23 Dec 05

I have just put a second sata hdd in my computer. the motherboard is a gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D with 1 sata hdd already running windows. The second is for extra data storage. The hdd is recognised in the bios but as channel 3 master. The main drive is channel 2 master. The device manager in system properties lists the drive. The problem I have is that explorer does not list the drive so it cannot be formatted. everything else works as it did before the hdd was installed.

Have you formatted the disk ? If not right click My Computer in Windows and select Manage, then disk management. From here you will be able to format the disk and allocate drive letter.

you will probably need to intialise the disk first via disk management.
