Hi all, I am running XP home, the hard drive is SATA 300 GB, I have an IDE hard drive from an old computer 112 GB which I have connected on a IDE ribbon but it is not allowing me to write to it although the computer has accepted it.
They both show in "my computer" I can drag and drop files to it but they are as short cuts only. Do I have to put a SATA HD in. Any help please. TIA.

Rather than drag and drop

right click file select copy then select the folder on the IDE drive and click paste.

This will prove if files can be written to the IDE drive.
