SATA hard drive

My son wants to expand the memory on his PS3 with a SATA hard drive. He wants to use a USB connection as to open it up would nullify the insurance that he has on it.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the best USB SATA hard drive? Around the 500mb would be suitable.

I assume you mean 500G 500mb is rather small :0)

My personal preference is for Western Digital or Seagate drives. click here

Thanks fruit bat. I meant that 500Gb of course. Are these drives SATA and suitable for the PS3? I have got a USB drive myself but it the old FAT32 type and not suitable for the PS3. (at least that is what my son tells me as I just plug it in)

A 2.5" SATA external hard drive will be ideal ,please take a look in this link from the official PS site click here

However an internal SATA drive click here is much better and quicker, upgrading/changing the internal hard drive doesn't void your playstation's warranty

As retep888 says, you need a 2.5" drive SATA drive for the PS3 (the same type that's used in laptops btw).
