sata dvd writer

I have just been given a samsung sh-183LB writer, it came with nero software. Plugged it in to a spare sata slot it kills the sound, will play video but no sound, i have already an ide writer that works on its own ok but loses sound when sata drive plugged in. my system is A8N-SLI motherboard, amd 4000cpu, 2sata hdd 1ide writer 1 sata writer if anybody can help would be grateful

the sata dvd writer I recently bought has no audio cable connection and connects audio through the sata ribbon cable. Is it this type?

sorry fordelay in repling total hdd meltdown yes it is sata cable after reloading windows now have sound but blue screen of death when video plays

this suggests it is a driver issue. Try running sfc /scannow and see if it cures the problem if not you may have to download drivers for your video player.
