I went to the wondows update page, and when i scanned there was nothing in the critical column, does that mean i dont need it or is it just a error?

would be fairly safe to assume you have it i think, if you have xp go to add/remove progs see if the fix is listed.

If your OS is XP, go to Control Panel and double click Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down the list and if Windows XP Hotfix KB35732 is there then you have the critical update required to protect against Sasser.

KB represents Knowledge Base - if you enter 835732 into the search menu on the KB page it brings up the relevant information about the update, along with a download link.

I downloaded Q835732 on April 17th.

Unless I have misunderstood you, I thought that since Windows XP Hotfix KB83572 is listed under Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel I do not need to download it since this has already been done via Windows Update.
