SAS sys tray Icon

Does this programme function differently dependent on the OS you're running?
I've got it on my XP machine, and there is an annoying "yellow bug" sitting in the sys tray all the time.
Also, on boot up it shows a small SAS splash screen.
Nothing of this sort happens on my Vista machine, I just fire it up when I need to run a scan, No sys tray icon, no splash screen nothing.

One irritation I have with both machines is that when it's finished updating, it always opens IE to it's home page...annoying!

open sas preferences tab and you have the option to remove it by untick of the box.then reboot.
