Sapphire Radeon 9000 Pro Driver instability

I am running the above card (64mb DDR) in an ASUS A7N8X Delux mainboard with XP 2400+ on Win XP Home. All's fine until the graphic drivers are loaded then it crashes frequently on boot up and at any time thereafter and Windows message says the drivers are the problem. Sapphire support guys admit there is a problem between the Radoen Drivers and the nVidia nForce2 SPP chipset on the ASUS, but all can advise is load current drivers. Done that but no good.
Getting pretty frustrated, any help out there please?
