Can anyone help?

I recently purchased the Extreme 16GB CF for my EOS 5D. However, the memory available only registers at 7.82 GB.

I've tried formatting it ~ no improvement.
I've tried it in my EOS 30D ~ as above - zilch!

I've contacted the company (online) from whom i purchased it.

I was asked whether my camera was set to FAT32, as the 16GB is FAT32 based.

I've not had any problems with any of the 2GB & 4GB cards i own, in both of my cameras.

I'm probably overlooking the obvious BUT please help!

I think your card is made by Sandisk. Try contacting the manufacturer direct:

Sandisk Tech: Support UK.

0207-365-4193

They should know more than a retailer; (unless you bought it from Sandisk direct).

I do use the 16GB CF. You have to do the following to use it successfully:

You have to install Paragon Partition Manager. You use this to delete and create partitions. You must have a card reader. You must use this Paragon software to format the 16GB CF using the FAT32 format. Each time you need to format the card, use your card reader to do it, NEVER USE YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
