Samsung ML-1710 USB problems

I use a Samsung ML-1710 USB printer with my Dell 8300, 1Meg Ram, 3.4 mhz
My problem is that constantly I can't print ( the printer does not respond after the print command) and I have to reboot in order to use it, sometimes even I've had to erase the driver and re-install the printer.
This is a recurring problem and other USB devices work fine.
I'm using the latest Samsung drivers I downloaded from there site.
Please advice

Have you tried just turning the printer off and on, I don't know why but occasionally my 1210 when in power saving mode doesn't 'wake up' flipping the switch brings it back to life.
