I know this question has been asked millions of times, but, wot is the maximum SAFE working temp for an Athlon 2600+. Mine normally runs at around 55-58 degrees C, but I moved it to somewhere where I knew would bump the temp up, but it has rocketed to 69 degrees c, Is this OK? Or would I be best putting it where it was?

XP 2600+ should be OK up to about 75 deg C and may well work up to 85, the max is 90.

Long term use at these temps will shorten the life span of your XP chip.

I would recommend trying to keep it below 60 if you can.

Thanks alot. Till I can afford some more cooling I think it'll go back to where it was!
