Does anybody know roughly what temperature an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ should run at or the highest safe temp.

Thanks
Dave

If you know your exact model they will tell you all the details that you need to know.

AMD processors are known for running quite hot so I wouldn't worry too much about 50 degrees. Like I said though - find out your model number and search for it on the AMD site - then you will know for sure what your maximium operating temp is.

If you can keep it under 50 deg C most of the time and and it only goes over 60 C when playing games etc. then it's fine but if it is over 70 most of the time then it will not last too long.

Those temps seem ok to me. My Athlon 1.2 runs at about 45 on start up and around 40 - 50 in use. Your temp is well below the accepted max for your processor.
