hi,

after looking at msconfig to see what startup items i could disable to allow my pc to start up quicker i looked in the services tab. are all the processes running on my pc necessary? and if not; where could i find a list that tells me what each is and whether i'd be safe to disable it?

i ask because my pc could do with some spare available RAM but i'm too skint to upgrade just now

thanks for any help

Black Viper's full guide can be downloaded as a zip from click here

Download Startup Inspector click here

It will tell you what is and what is not essential at startup and will prevent them opening if you want it to.

Easier (and safer) to use than "doing it yourself".

i've used blackviper's advice and it seems to have made a difference in my amount of available RAM so i'll stick with it and just make sure that all my programs etc are running properly over the next few days.

thanks again
