Please explain exactly what you are trying to do.

this very much depends on the program, there will be no problem with any stand alone program that doesnt instal extra files.

lets say you want to run the Horizon5 font viewer
from a floppy disk: First you will need to download or get from a cd the installer package, you will then need to run the installer and choose drive A:\ during instalation, it should be as simple as that, the program will then run from the floppy disk, just put in the floppy and click the shortcut made during the instalation.

Now for more complex applications things can get a little difficult, it very much depends on how the calls to the extra DLL's,ini files etc are coded . If you go through the motions described before you will find out quite quickly wether or not it will work for a given application, and if it does'nt it doesn't.

once the program is over 1.4 MB you are going to have to look at installing onto a CD which could get very tricky. You could try installing ontooo your hard drive then copying the installed .exe file to the cd then deleteing the original (then update any shortcuts made to the program) but changing the path in this way is problematic.

basically if its not a simple standalone utility you,d be best to instal it on your hard drive.

If you already have the Disk with the program on, (as an .exe file not the installer package) then simply open the directory (folder) and double click the icon.
