On starting up WINDOWS98SE immediately after DESKTOP is displayed message RUNDLL appears:-

Error loading
A dynamic link library (DLL) initialisation routine failed.

I delete RUNDLL window and system continues normally.

What does message mean? Is it important? How do I overcome it?

Rundll is a windows system file and should be restored by running SFC from the start --> run. The file named ctrlpan.dll is most likely belonging to a program you have installed. Have you added any new software to your computer?

Checking with Google suggests that ctrlpan.dll might well be some Spyware.

Wht not run Spybot & Adaware malware/spyware removers ?

Tried tbh72's response but could not find copy of ctrlplan.dll file on my M/S Windows98 CD-ROM.

Where should I have looked?
