Run programs from external hard drive?

Hi.

I recently upgraded the hard drive on my laptop and I've put the old one in a caddy to use as an external drive.

It's still got XP and the programs installed, but I've found I can't run any of the programs nor boot up from it.

I assume this is because it's connected to the USB port and not the IDE. So I was wondering if there's a program which will allow me to do this?

Any help would be most welcome

Thanks

Not much you can do as the programs are now losing the registry entries that were created when originally installed.

The best you can hope for is to be able to access the data on the disk.

Apart from the OS, you could re-install the programs to the external drive, you would then be able to run them as normal. I have all my games installed on an external drive, this leaves more room on my internal drive.

PS - I meant to add - after reformatting the external drive!
