Routers - Quick Question

I've got 2 PC's running at the same time using a KVM Switch and a USB-USB Data Transfer set-up. I've put ethernet cards into each PC but haven't yet connected up the crossover cable nor used the Windows network wizard.

Is it the case that I won't be able to have them both connected to the internet at the same time unless I acquired a router?

Cheers.

You can connect one and then set up "Internet Connection Sharing" - ICS.
