Everyone has an opinion on this, personely i allways turn mine off,and have done so for the last three years, without any adverse affect.

Had mine on for months as it routes a phone system.

I leave my router on 24/7, but turn everything else off each night.

I turn mine off if I'm not going to use it for more than an hour or so, no adverse effects or slowdowns to report. It takes about 1 minute to fire up again and all lights to settle.

It could affect firmware upgrades?

"It could affect firmware upgrades?"

If your firmware upgrades download and install automatically then they'll still do so the next time you connect.
