my router has the option of lease time from 1 hour to 1 week, what is the best lease time to set?

Just set it to 1 week and forget about it. The lease will be "renewed" automatically long before it "expires".

AFAIK, the purpose of the lease time is to allow for situations where there are many systems (e.g. PCs) sharing a limited number of ports on a router and, whilst a PC may need to assured of a minimum amount of time "per session", one doesn't necessarily want to allow them to hog the ports on the router (to the exclusion of other users).

In practice, for most home situations (especially with wireless), this is rarely an issue (unless you've got several kids, each with their own PC). So just leave it at a default value (mine is at 1 day).
