Router Installation Probs

Runnng 5 yr old Dell P3 with Win98. Came with Eicon Diva ISDN modem pre-installed. Subsequently upgraded to Broadband happily using Westell modem kindly supplied by BT. Tried to install a Netgear and BT Brand router today and Ethernet lead from router to back of PC does not register a port on either router. Put lead in laptop and sees port straight away! Chap at Dell says I need a LAN card - do I? what's a LAN card? how much are they? should I buy a new PC? do any PCs come with built-in router or am just dreaming? Please note I'm not too techhie!!!

You need a PCI Ethernet card in your PC. Very cheap and easy to fit.

Alternatively, see if BT are prepared to offer you a USB version which will plug straight into a USB 2 port on the back of your PC.
