Router Firewall

I have awireless router with built-in ADSL modem. The firewall which is built in to the router is blocking a lot including some peer-to-peer progs. Would disabling this and using Norton Personal Firewall or Zone Alarm make sense, or am I missing something? The router is a Belkin if that makes any difference.

Go into the firewall and enable the ports for the programs. Most programs will tell you which ports need to be open to use them in the help files.
