Rogue routing

I have been using a Belkin 34g wireless router, connected to my cable modem, which has an ethernet connection to my desktop computer.

I kept the default profile name of Belkin34g. I didn't enable security, but I specified the MAC addresses of the two computers that could use the connection.

My laptop was connecting fine until this morning and the ethernet-connected desktop is still OK.

Although it reported an "excellent" signal as usual, it would not connect.

I then found a SECOND wireless network with a weaker signal and the same profile name to which it would connect.

A few hours later, I could connect to both networks, but the original one will not make a connection to the internet - the send and receive lights don't flash on either the modem or the router.
