Robust Laptop?

I'm looking to buy a new laptop to replace the current one which is a Toshiba Sat Pro 4600. The Toshiba has caused me no problems in 2 1/2 years however can anyone give me some advice? I need a high spec with integral cd rw and dvd but wonder how much I should spend partic if I am going to replace within 3 years. Most important to me, as it is a laptop used for my small business, is reliability, sturdiness and technical back-up in the case of problems. I have been looking at Dells however most people I speak with tell me these are not reliable as laptops.
Can anyone give me some advice?

I've mis-used my toshiba for two years now and it still works despite my efforts. I'm not nearly as confident about my Samsung which replaces it.
n.b. I've kept the Toshiba as a spare.
