Ripping DVDs to Hard Disk and VCDs/SVCDs?

  Gaz W 18:29 15 Mar 03

What program(s) do I need to put DVDs onto VCDs or SVCDs? Any recommendations?

Also, what is the best way to rip a DVD to the hard disk? I would assume it's possible to put it in DVD quality using the same amount of space used on the DVD? What program would I require for that?

Is there anything free or would I be better off paying?

try a program called smartripper, it worked for me. This is of course technically a little bit naughty.

Thanks for your help. It might be a little bit naughty but it's handy for "backup purposes", since I don't (yet) have a DVD writer.

and DVD2SVCD is very norty but a great programe.:)

DVD Decrypter click here (you need around 8GB free on hard disk for either of the suggested prorams)

Thanks for all your help. Sorry for not replying though! I have downloaded & installed all of the programs mentioned and am trying them all out to see which one I find best for my requirements.
