Any idea how to retrieve info from a dead h/d. Dave

You send it to a data recovery service, and pay a lot of money. Often, though, on a no-fix no-fee basis.

How important is the data - some idea of fees here click here

When you say "dead" what do you mean exactly?

You can send them off to specialist companies, but that does cost £££££

How dead is dead? Does it still spin?

There are software solutions if you can put it in as a slave drive and there is still some life in it.

I have heard you can occasionally revive a completely dead hard drive by putting it in the freezer. Not joking, but I'd try most other tricks first.

So, more info.... How dead, how did it die, what make/model, can you put it in a second computer, how valuable (to you) is the data???
