Retain Document Map in Word

In Word, is there a way to define that the document map stays open when you open a document?

E.g. if you open a doc, the document map opens automatically without the user having to switch it on.

You've intrigued me as I've never heard of the Document Map, must have a go. However I don't know if this is the complete answer but in the help pages and I quote 'When you display the Document Map, it's "on" only for the view you're currently in. If you switch to another view, you need to click Document Map to display the Document Map for that view.'
I realise it doesn't cover start of Word only change of view but they might be linked?

You would have to play with the VB editor and create a macro in the such that whenever a document was opened, it executed the following command.

I could do it in Excel but Word seems to behave a little differently

ActiveWindow.DocumentMap = True
