Just a quick question.

Is it possible to restore a backup, made using Windows XP Home's own backup utility, to a new PC using Windows XP Media edition 2005?

Thanks

I don't think XP Home has a back-up facility, only Pro.

It does - it just isn't installed by default!

As to the original question I'm afraid I don't know!

XP Home has the same backup as XP Pro (you have to search for it on the XP CD and enable it)

Sorry don't know

Any road up, are you wishing to transfer data/settings to the new computer?

If you really want it have a look at this click here and click here

Thanks, I now have back-up. Don't really need it as I have Ghost and external HD, but I'm sure others will welcome the facility.

To elaborate on rawprawn's point XP Pro has Backup installed by default, but it needs to be added in Home.

On the XP Home CD-ROM (right click it in My Computer>Browse) look in

\valueadd\msft\ntbackup

and double click on the NTBACKUP.MSI file to install it.

However I much prefer to use Ghost...:-)
