Restoring main boot record

I hazily remember what to do - something about the "applications and support" disk that came with the comp, thenboot from cd-rom then C:\>
Is it fdisk /mbr ? Do I need the "fdisk" or not ? Lat thing I want to do is wipe my HD !

Just whack in a boot floppy, drop to a dos prompt and type:

sys A: C:

That should make a 95/98/ME machine sort itself.

for XP and 2K boot from your os's install CD, drop to the recover console and type:

fixboot /rebuild

job done.
