Restoring a complete drive image

  iscanut2 20:00 12 Mar 05

I use Acronis 8 Drive Image to carry out a regular drive image and hope I never have to use the restore option. However, if this should arise due to various drive or OS problems, do I need to install the saved image to a clean drive, or can I restore over the top of the damaged/faulty installation, and if so, will files be overwritten as required ?

I don't use Acronis 8 Drive Image but I use Drive Image 7 instead which works on a similar principal.
When you restore the 'image' it overwrites EVERYTHING already on the hard drive.
I know this to be true as I have actually tested it out!

Should also have said I use Acronis.

Thanks for confirming. Makes me feel happier !

I use Acronis, I think you ought to test the back up image out, as this will give you added confidence if the true disaster happens. I did and set on the edge of my seat until it finished. David
