restarting windows xp

I have just fitted a new h/d but every time i restart my computer asks for the startup disk but as the bios setup had been set to ignore a drive it wont read so how can I get it to start

Do you have an operating system installed on it?

If not, you should be able to boot with your OS CD if you have one.

Hi, on startup hold down the Del key to get into BIOS, then you can make alterations to boot from Floppy or CD, whichever you have. I hope:-)

Have you checked the cables?
is it formated and has the bios recognised its there?
have the jumpers been set to slave?
