Resizing photos

This might be a silly question, but if I shrink photos before putting them on my web site will it leave me with more space. I have a free geocities site so am limited to a certain amount of space for adding things.

if space as in MB. Then just resizing them wud not.

U wud be betta getting Paint Shop Pro. this program will export your images at a compression rate u choose. Normally at smaller sizes u can get images down to a few KB without seeing to much pixelation.

with images is to optimise them - remember that when you compress an image file you must ensure that the physical size of the image is right for the spot on the page that you've reserved for it. To put it simply, if you subsequently try to increase the size of a compressed image it will be like blowing up a balloon. The same amount of data will be used to fill a larger area, and the image quality will be degraded.
