Resized partition nor recognised correctly

I have just resized the partitions on my daughter's PC with partition expert. The primary partition C: drive which was 20GB and very full was increased to 50 GB taking the space from a hardly used logical drive D: which now has a 25GB capacity. The resizing was 'Committed' and there are no operations outstanding. Partition manager shows the size of both partitions correctly. However, in Windows selecting 'My Computer' and then displaying the properties of each drive shows the D: drive correctly (25GB) but C: is still shown as 20GB. If I right click My Computer and select manage and then disk drives both drives are shown correctly in the visual (rectangular boxes) display but in the upper window C: shows as 20GB. I have rund chkdsk on both drives and there are no errors reported.

Can anyone advise how I can get the resized C: drive to show the free space now assigned to it?
