Resetting router on wireless device change

  wednesday 13 22:23 27 Aug 10

I have been using my wirless router and cable modem with no problem, but I recently acquired the wireless adapter for the xbox 360, and now if I want to connect either of them to my router, I have to reset my equipment in order for them to recieve an IP adress.
Is there any way I can configure the router or my devices to avoid having to do this

You shouldn't have to reset anything in order to connect and disconnect devices with the router. IP addresses should be assigned automatically as soon as a network adapter connects to the router.

I'd suggest performing a "hard reset" of the Router back to its factory default settings. Then set it up again from scratch. It might even have an option to save the current configuration which you can then import again after hard resetting it.
