Do you mean the BIOS password?

Have a look in the BIOS for system and BIOS access passwords.

If it is the Bios password and you do not know the original password you will not be able to change it. Removing the CMOS battery for 30 minutes might remove it but you have to write down your bios settings as they may be changed when you reinstall the battery. If I remember right I had to reformat an old Dell computer to remove the bios password from that. If you have proof of purchace with Dell you can get the password from them so I would imagine other makers may be the same.

If it is the BIOS password you are referring to then some makes of PC allow you to reset it by removing a jumper on the motherboard (all Dell machines have this feature). What PC do you have?

Maybe have a look text

And go down to BIOS Master Password Keygenerator for Locked Out BIOS. Now I have no idea if that works or not as I have never tried it.
